Beginner Friendly Shift Dress

August 1 @ 10:0016:00

It’s Hot. It’s Humid. Let’s make a forgiving shift dress and ride out the season.

Make it simple. Lined or unlined. Quilty or not quilty. Embroider it. Appliqué it. There are plenty of ways to change up this basic dress.

No zippers. No buttons.

It has pockets.

This pattern can be purchased in either paper or pdf format: please bring proof of purchase to class session.

You can preorder a paper pattern from us and avoid shipping fees… or order a pdf pattern from the designer.

Supplies:

  • The Sunset Shift Pattern
  • Sewing machine in good working order.
  • It is requested that the student bring the yardage that the pattern calls for, based on their size. (Please use the size based on measurements and not by your normal dress size alone). You can bring any fabric (muslin is great) as we will be constructing it as your base so you can perfect the fit before ever cutting a quilt top or precious fabric that you adore! Pattern sizes do not correlate to US garment sizes: use the pattern measurements. If you will be using heavily quilted or unwashed cotton fabric: use one size up from pattern measurements.
  • We will also show you several ways to embellish this cute dress.
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • 1 package of 1/2″ single-fold bias tape

Class Fee: $20.00
